In the framework of the "Phoibos" project, KIT researchers succeeded in coupling four Silicon-on-Insulator nanophotonic waveguides to the individual cores of a four-core fiber by means of photonic wire bonding. Insertion losses as down to 1.7dB have been measured.

One highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the dedicated photonic wire bonder that has been installed at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in early March.
More InformationThe installation of the 3D photonic integration laboratoy at IMT has been completed with the setup of the cleanroom.
